It’s All About That Space! Key Considerations for Designing Engaging, Inclusive and Effective Learning Spaces

September 14, 2022 @ 3:00 pm EDT

Use this link to view the replay and access the resources.

Friends don’t let friends design bad learning spaces! At schools and universities, students learn best through social and active engagement with the instructor, their peers, and ultimately with the built environment around them. We know that both formal and informal learning spaces matter, so how do we go beyond “Pinterest pretty” to create effective learning spaces, designed intentionally to promote engaging experiences and desired learning outcomes? How do we make sure learning spaces are accessible and inclusive to all learners? In this session, we’ll explore how learning theory, pedagogy, technology, and space intersect to support active learning, discuss key attributes of effective learning spaces, and we’ll share free resources (FLEXspace.org and the Learning Spaces Rating System) to help you assess your spaces and involve multiple stakeholders in the planning process for continuous improvement.
